We have been living with the mainstream 64-bit processors(CPU) for decades, before them the 32-bit processors, the 16-bit processors, and the 8-bit processors. One trend I felt is that popular 128-bit processors might be emerging this year. 64-bit processors have 64 bits for addresses to data, 128-bit processors would have 128 bits for addresses, which enables substantially larger address space and provides new options for system software and programming. Another trend I feel is that more and more businesses are going to establish satellite offices close to where workers live. Having satellite offices within 5 miles or so of workers' residences allows workers to be able to get to the office via walking, biking, or short car ride, all of which would help reduce carbon emissions. In 2019, non-essential workers were mainly working at central offices, in 2020, non-essential workers mainly worked from home and the world observed a reduction in carbon emissions. In the remainder of 2021, more businesses might be offering non-frontline employees 3 options on where to work, employees' homes, satellite offices near employees' residences, and central offices that might be a little farther. The third trend I feel is that a larger percentage of us would have a college degree as more and more community colleges are offering free tuition to eligible students. In the San Francisco bay area, CCSF has been doing that, Foothill College and De Anza College have also been doing that. I feel community colleges elsewhere might be already offering the same free tuition to eligible students or thinking about offering that. When I went to college in Georgia, the majority of the students took education loans and many students were working either part-time or full-time at the same time. With more and more community colleges offering free tuition to eligible students, I think it would make college more affordable and more people in our society would consider getting a college degree before joining the work force, which could unlock more possible career paths in life.

Have a safe summer,
