Yesterday, another rifle got too close to former President Trump. According to the news I read, a hero Secret Service agent was stationed one hole ahead of President Trump on the golf course and opened fire towards the direction of the rifle. And other heroic Secret Service agents instantly shielded President Trump on the golf course. We're in a period of multiple political violence incidents happening to our political leaders. Two years ago, Speaker Pelosi's house was invaded. This time, I think Biden-Harris administration needs consider expanding the protection perimeter for our presidential nominees. For instance, we could double the radius of protection for our nominees, like from one mile to two miles. Or, we could have Secret Service agents stationed 2 golf course holes away from the nominees instead of 1 hole away to keep dangerous objects away from the nominees. I understand that it would take significantly more resources including people to expand the protection bubble. In the case of a 3-dimensional sphere, the volume would be 8 times the original volume if the protection radius is doubled. In the case of a relatively flat surface area, the area of the circle would be 4 times the original area if the protection radius is doubled. But the Biden-Harris administration still should consider allocating more resources to counter this wave of political violence and uphold the democratic process.| Feng Zhou |
