Earlier last week, I needed to remove a few wood screws. But a couple of screws were stuck in the wood. Starting with Google, after a few tries, I found that two methods worked quite well depending on whether the screw head is slightly damaged or not damaged. When a stuck screw is hard to remove with screwdriver and its head is not damaged, I used a hammer to tap on the screw directly for a few times. Then I was able to remove the screw by turning the screwdriver counterclockwise slowly. When a stuck screw's head is slightly damaged, with screwdriver on the damaged screw, I tapped the hammer on the handle of screwdriver lightly for a few times. Then I was able to remove the screw by pressing the screwdriver against the slightly damaged screw firmly and turning the screwdriver counterclockwise slowly. I didn't run into the case of a stuck screw with heavily damaged head. In summary,If you run into these situations, I hope that the two methods described here will work for you too!
