After the COVID-19 pandemic started with its first outbreak in China's Wuhan City, I often feel afraid, sad, and angry with the virus. Given the age group I'm in and the number of underlying high-risk chronic conditions I have, I fear I might need hospitalization if I catch the virus. So many lives have been lost in the pandemic, and I feel sad. Also, I get angry every time I forgot to put on mask before my stepping into a store and had to got back to my car to retrieve it. But our behaviors have to change to keep the virus from spreading, we have to wear masks when we're not home, we have to wash our hands for at least 20 seconds, we have to keep a distance from people and keep gatherings small. Our adapting to our environment where this virus is prevalent helps prevent us from getting infected and reduces the potential burden on our hospitals. At night, I still sleep quite well, I try to imagine that I was sleeping on China's Taiwan Island, clear of the virus.| Feng Zhou |
